I have mentioned renting flats here in Moscow before, so I thought I should show you an example of the quality you can expect unless you choose the central areas and don't mind paying upwards from 2,000 euro to 5,000 or more per month, as priced at today's date. Some people reading this may actually like some of the flats and say whats is all the fuss about and they really don't look so bad. That's fine for me, since one mans meat is another mans poison, as they say and we all have our own taste. I totally respect that. If you like these flats no problem. If you don't like them well, be afraid, be very afraid! Take a walk through the flat horror gallery. See hall of horror below:
Note: There is a wide choice of flats for rent in Moscow, some beautiful some not so beautiful depending on how deep your pockets are or how generous your employer is in willing to pay your monthly rent. It all depends on your bling power and on your taste. If you like gold sofas, mirrors on the ceilings and gold taps (faucets), you will have a wide choice to look at in Moscow. If you like high rise living, you will not be disappointed. There is a wide choice for your "western needs" to quote an advert for renting.

ReplyDeleteI am sure they are not all so bad but thanks for the warning. I plan to move next year to Moscow.I will choose carefully. Thanks. Steve
ReplyDeleteI have become a big fan of the design style I call, "Tsarist Complex." I bet you can figure out what this style is! ;) Great blog, thanks for posting a comment on mine so I could find yours! I will be reading! :)
ReplyDeleteLike wise Michelle, us bloggers and expats abroad should stick together!
ReplyDeleteHmmm... the problem here is that there is no strong working class, there is only the poor, and the rich, and its VERY visible in Moscow, I'm pretty sure many develop this 'tsarist' complex, its not hard to go from a bum on the street to a billionaire, especially in Moscow.
ReplyDeleteAuchan is not bad, obviously not everything they sell is of a high standard D:
I'm not sure what you mean by 'tsarist' complex' I don't think I am better than a Russian or anything like that its just the collection of flats for rent in Moscow are either awful, 'bling' or just plain vulgar. You do see some decked out entirely in Ikea which IMO is a good thing. Many of the flats for let in Moscow should not be let at all.
ReplyDeleteGood friend of mine rents a 3 room (2br) modern-style flat equipped with all tech for about $ 1500. But it is in the panel building and is rather far from metro.
