Those soft, honest Russian Police
I expect the two Russian Police, went out that night and got very drunk. I suspect, the flat owner, phoned his friends to tell them that he had six Filipino women in his flat and did they want to make some fast easy money. What a bastard. Its beyond belief, that this kind of thing still happens in a modern developed Russia. Whenever I see a Policeman, I look the other way and I am white and not a criminal. When will things change here within the Police?
The bad guys give the good guys a bad name.

Unfortunately, bad things happen to foreign workers anywhere. I didn't know Russia allows foreign work like in the western countries where unemployment is significant yet they give work permits to outsiders.
ReplyDeleteSuch practice is really spread in Russia. I mean allowing foreigners to work.
ReplyDeleteBut this accident was a crime committed by the Police officers. If this woman was enough brave and strong I would offer her to complain about this crime or just to say the officers about this possibility when they were asking for money.

ReplyDeleteForeigners will work and its their right to but they should not be subject to hooligan Police and money extortion.
Nothing will ever change in Russia. Read the literary works of 18th,19th centuries and you'll find the same wide spread corruption from top to bottom, and the same silent, submissive people tolerating it.
ReplyDeleteDear English man in russia
ReplyDeleteThis is very real thing in moscow. It heppend to my sister-in-law. She came to visit us from england. She was going to supermarket police asked her passpot she showed her passport they took registration paper from her and put it in their pocket and said there is no registration papers and asked for money. She was taken to police station I was to pay money to get her out. Welcome to moscow have a nice time!
I don't think I want to visit Moscow. It sounds a bit scary!
ReplyDeleteIts a bit scary but its different. You have to alter your mind set, which so far I have been unable to do. Its not so bad but worth a visit if only for the experience!
ReplyDeleteWell it is so sad to hear this thing. Foreign workers particularly filipinos, who will sacrifice to live and work in a very far place and serve other countries and people yet they are treated badly with persons whom they expect to get some help or protect them in any time the need arises. We filipinos work and live in other country to earn good money for the future of our families, children, etc. It is really hard to be apart to your family. Pls have mercy on them.
ReplyDeleteYou need to say that to the Russian Police not me.
ReplyDeleteOh it is not you Mr. Englishman in Moscow. I am talking about the russian policeman.I really appreciate what you wrote here about my countryman. I am a filipina. God bless good people like you.
ReplyDeleteIt will not change in Russia. My advice is make money stay a short time and leave. Be careful here and be safe and sensible.

ReplyDeleteHi, here in Dubai we have an awful lot of stories about Filipino helpers being abused in all sorts of ways, including physical abuse by their employers, even by an upper-class,polished western families who are presumably more humane then the others...It`s a common practice to take away maid`s passport, pay them 100-200USD (our cat costs us more than that), make 10 people sleep in a single room.
ReplyDeleteJust like this people, moronic Russian policeman feel all-powerful, and used to get away unpunished no matter what...
xxxx Dubai`s cat
I am sure its true. I feel sorry for them but they are not all that good at childcare but it does not mean they should be treated like animals by rich families.
