We moved here on the 30th of August 2009. It was a big shock at first to arrive in such a big and dirty city, the smell was the first thing I noticed. Car fumes.. The car is king here and the roads are chocked with cars. 15 to 20 years ago most families did not have a car, now most people have a car and want a car. Black seems to be the most popular colour for cars and they must have tinted windows. 4x4 jeeps and Mercs are most common here, you see blonds with 3mm of make-up and mobile phones glued to their ears driving big black cars around the city. The city is very over populated and bursting with people its also very expensive.
Its too early to have a full picture of Russia and Moscow at this stage but each day I am getting used to it a bit more and trying to be optimistic. I must start to see it in a different way or I will feel depressed. Global warming and climate change are not known to Russians. Note to reader: I am not a hippy but just worried about climate change.
